Dental Sealants are a clear protective material that is applied to the chewing surface of your molars (back teeth) by sealing off the grooves and pits in your molars that are prone to cavities. The sealant will make the surface of your teeth smoother. This will help you keep your teeth cleaner when brushing your teeth. The dental sealants placed by Front Range Dental Center do not contain bisphenol A (BPA).
An Orthodontist is a dental specialist who practices Orthodontics (Ortho). Orthodontists are dentists who have completed an additional 2 to 3 years of additional training (residency program) at a dental institution that is accredited by the American Dental Association.
Fluoride (F on the Periodic Table) is a naturally occurring element. Currently, Fluoride is the only product that will remineralize weakened enamel of teeth. Fluoride is found in local water supplies, toothpaste, mouthwash, Fluoride supplements, and Fluoride treatments provided at your dental exams.
Nitrous Oxide (Laughing Gas) is a safe way to relax during any dental procedure. Nitrous Oxide is mixed with Oxygen to help you relax. The use of the Nitrous Oxide is called conscious sedation.
Amalgam is an alloy that contains mercury, silver, copper, tin and sometime other base metals. Dentists have used amalgam fillings since the early 1800s for dental fillings.
Front Range Dental Center does NOT place amalgam fillings. Our dentists ONLY place composite (tooth colored) fillings. If you have amalgam fillings, please make sure that you have your dentist check your amalgam fillings each dental visit. Sometimes, they dentist may recommend replacing the amalgam filling with a composite filling.
