The exhibit at the new Los Gatos Art Center, 242 N. Santa Cruz Ave., runs the gamut from Native American tooth extractors with wooden handles to a 1930 photo of the “New Art Painless Dentist,” who would trade food or anything of value for tooth services.
“In the last couple of decades dentistry techniques and materials have really improved,” Dr. Ahmed Moneim said. “Nowadays we practice evidence-based dentistry, which combines experience and clinical research.” That research, for instance, allows people to keep their teeth longer
